Simon Gardiner is the Information, Advice and Guidance (I.A.G.) Project Worker.

The main aim of the I.A.G. is to support and inform travellers and homeless people in the Somerset area.


 

This includes:
  • Building and strengthening links with unauthorised and authorised sites and homeless people.
  • Ensuring that homeless people have the necessary information to access services such as:
    • Traveller and homeless support organizations
    • Health centres and medical support
    • Housing providers
    • Legal advice regarding unauthorised sites
    • Grant providers for travellers and homeless people
    • Education services
    • Community mental health support
    • Training providers
    • Benefits agencies
  • Carrying out a research survey of the general and specific needs of travellers, settlers and low impact dwellers living in Somerset.
  • To liase and strengthen links with other service providers and agencies to ensure they are more aware of the needs of travellers and homeless people.
  • Inform and communicate with those who are not travellers or homeless with the purpose of building bridges and help establish a wider, less divided or judgemental community.
