Health services available at The Robert Barton Trust
New For February
Access to the Oral Health Team.
Staff from the oral health team will be attending the drop-in on a regular basis, to answer any queries about dentistry and teeth issues. From the information gathered regarding dentistry needs they may then be able to refer to relevant treatment.
If you are having issues with your teeth/gums and wish to talk to the oral health team phone Sioux on 01458 833797 or come in on a Thursday between 11-2.
After developing and completing health surveys with our client group we found that a high proportion of them accessed no health provision at all. Access to treatment can be harder due to the lifestyle of travelling people. These reasons include no permanent sites for travellers to reside on. This makes long-term treatment problematic. Lack of an address means no postal updates for health promotion such as smears, immunisations and general check ups.
Our health inclusion worker can assist our service users with accessing GPSs and other health providers, and can signpost to sexual health services, school nurses, mental health support and drug and alcohol issues. If you have any health related queries you need support or advice on contact Sioux at the trust.
After working closely with the Somerset Primary Care Trust our health worker was trained and equipped to offer the following services: • Free compassionate pregnancy testing (with full referral service)
• Free condoms (with demonstration)
• Support accessing medical services including doctors and dentists
• Chlamydia screening (under 24s only)
• Smoking cessation advice
